As an Exhibitions Intern under the National Library, you will conduct research and assist with preparations for an upcoming exhibition, as well as support the department’s efforts to improve on the discoverability of NL Exhibitions' online content.

What you will be working on

• Assist curators with in-depth research and content development for upcoming exhibitions which includes research on either or both of the following areas:

  • adaptations of Chinese novels and the novels' connections to Singapore and Southeast Asia;
  • information dissemination, persuasion, and psychological operations during war

• Assist with exhibition-related tasks (e.g., securing image permissions, organisation of research materials)

• Support ongoing exhibitions by helping with miscellaneous administrative and/or logistical tasks

What we are looking for

  • Open to students from all disciplines; students with a background in History, Chinese Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, Literature, Museum Studies and related humanities courses are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • High proficiency in research and writing in both English and Chinese
  • Good communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Interest and/or experience in the work of museums, libraries and archives would be advantageous
  • Ability to read a Southeast Asian language (e.g., Malay, Burmese, Thai), Japanese, and/or Traditional Chinese would be advantageous
