As a Lead Engineer/Engineer (Product Manager) in HTX, you will own the product lifecycle for ICT application systems that serve our homeland security mission. You will work closely with end users, stakeholders, and development teams to define, build, and continuously improve products that address critical operational needs and deliver measurable value to the Home Team.
What you will be working on
The job-holder will be responsible for product strategy, roadmap development, and product delivery for identified systems and solutions, which include the following:
• Define product vision and strategy aligned with organisational objectives and user needs through market research, user interviews, and stakeholder engagement
• Develop and maintain product roadmaps, prioritising features based on user value, business impact, and technical feasibility
• Gather and analyse user feedback, usage data, and market insights to inform product decisions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications. To put up relevant papers to seek management support and secure resourcing as part of product delivery and stakeholder engagement.
• Create detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that guide development teams
• Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the development process, making trade-off decisions and ensuring product quality
• Conduct user acceptance testing and coordinate product launches, including training and change management activities
• Monitor product performance and traction through key metrics and analytics, iterating based on data-driven insights
• Manage product backlogs and work with cross-functional teams to deliver features that meet user needs and business objectives
• Ensure products comply with relevant security guidelines, policies, and regulatory requirements whilst maintaining optimal user experience
• Ensure timely delivery and rollout of the product
• Identify, manage risks and implications to the product and to recommend mitigating measures
• Manage contractual and payment matters affecting the product and ensure that products are operating according to service level agreements
• Act as the primary product advocate, communicating product value and updates to stakeholders across the organisation
What we are looking for
• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology/Computer Science/Engineering, Business, or relevant disciplines
• At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience in product management, product development, or related roles
• Experience with product management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Design Thinking), user research techniques, and data-driven decision making
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret user data, market trends, and business metrics to inform product strategy
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence without authority
• Strong writing skills, preferably with experience in drafting papers for requirements/budget approval. Candidates may be required to submit an essay as part of the selection process.
• Proven track record of successfully launching and managing digital products or services
• Understanding of software development processes and ability to work effectively with technical teams
• Demonstrate passion for user experience and continuous learning about emerging technologies, market trends and wide readings on technology matters.
• Experience in enterprise-level product development in areas such as Cloud, DevSecOps, Data Analytics, or emerging technologies will be an added advantage
• Self-motivated, pro-active, dedicated and responsible self-starter.
All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
