What you will be working on
As an Engineer (Ops – Shift) with Jurong Water Reclamation Plant, your responsibilities would include the following:
- Responsible for the smooth, safe and efficient day-to-day operation and maintenance (O&M) of the treatment processes in accordance with procedures and standards as required.
- Monitor incoming flows, and ensure smooth and safe plant operations, even under wet weather condition. Monitor, coordinate and direct staff in operation of all equipment in the plant covering liquids and solids treatment processes. The range of processes and equipment include pumps, blowers, floating aerators, the centrifuges for Primary Sludge, Waste Activated Sludge and Digested sludge and thickeners, gas engines, scrubbers, as well as Membrane Bioreactor and Thermal Hydrolysis Process.
- Monitor on treatment effectiveness and liaise with all stakeholders on all matters to ensure operational reliability and to achieve works targets. Plan and carry out troubleshooting and provide diagnosis for operational issues and optimise treatment processes.
- Supervise and direct staff and stakeholders to ensure that all equipment readings are properly taken and recorded as required. Prepare reports for follow up actions. Ensure operating equipment and safety are in good working condition before handing over duties. Record all events that occurred during the shift duty. Ensure all available loads are put on Engine and to flare gas where necessary.
- Ensure equipment that are put on duty operation are rotated according to schedule. To put up fault list for non-operable equipment and answer incoming telephone calls. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Direct shift staff to attend to any alarm activated by Fire alarm panel. To liaise with DECAM in the event of alarm activation. Take charge of the whole plant and oversee the security for the plant after office hours. Initiate emergency response plans and implement SOPs where required.
- To prepare specifications, scope of works and cost estimates, and call tenders and quotations for works where required. To follow up on procurement and inventory requirements that include raising and supporting Purchase Orders and Works Orders, generating Good Receipt Notes and Completion Certificates. To follow up on asset management requirements that include monitoring and updating Asset Management System records.
- To ensure safety standards of works carried out in the plant by providing safe work briefing to the contract workers, conduct regular safety inspection and prepare Notification/ Permit to Work. Prepare and review risk assessments and safe work procedures. Manage and maintain a safe working environment.
What we are looking for
- Chemical/ Environmental/ Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical or relevant Engineering Degree.
- Candidates with at least 2 years of relevant experience in the O&M of used water treatment processes are preferred.
- Willingness to learn, teamwork, strong safety mindset and work rotating shifts.
