As a Senior Assistant Director in the Flood Resilience Design Department at PUB, you will play a leading role in the project development and implementation of coastal protection infrastructure. You will lead a team of engineers and consultants to support various coastal protection projects.
What you will be working on
Your job role will include, but is not limited to the following:
• Lead a team of engineers to manage Professional Engineering Services and construction works contracts for coastal protection projects, to ensure timely delivery of projects within the allocated budget
• Guide the team in translating conceptual designs into preliminary and detailed engineering solutions, ensuring alignment with national objectives and PUB's long-term vision. This includes overseeing design optimization strategies, reviewing critical technical decisions, evaluating cost-effectiveness of solutions, and ensuring preliminary and detailed engineering designs remain flexible, environmentally sustainable, financially sustainable, liveable and robust.
• Collaborate closely with other PUB departments, particularly with Catchment and Waterways Department (CWD), to implement integrated design approaches for inland and coastal systems. The role includes coordinating branch-level initiatives, resolving conflicting technical requirements, and ensuring design excellence and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Managing public feedback and community engagement during the project implementation
• Any other duties as assigned
What we are looking for
• Degree in Engineering (including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Environmental Engineering) or Degree in Science related to coastal and marine systems, or equivalent
• At least 10 years of relevant work experience in planning, design, construction, or operations of water, coastal or other infrastructure projects
• Independent and self-driven team player with good communication and project management skills
• Analytical abilities to interpret technical data and carry out appropriate engineering analysis for coastal protection systems
• Certification from the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) will be an advantage.
• Competency in coastal and flood modelling tools will be an advantage
• Experience in Contract management and/or Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will be an advantage
