What you will be working on

Co-led by Sport Singapore and Singapore Sports School (SSP), you will be part of a journey to support the vision for the next bound to build new capabilities for high performance sport and better integrate our programmes/policies to strengthen support for youth to senior athletes, and youth-to-senior transition. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of sport specific psychology curriculum/programme (based on the sport psychology team’s framework) that adopts an integrated, flexible, individual and needs based approach to all aspects of the psychological, social and cultural development of coaches, athletes and key support staff. This will include coaches and athletes from both High-Performance squads and squads within the development pathway. Service Delivery • To plan and optimise Sport Psychology support and delivery to various sport programmes. • To provide high-quality, sport-specific, evidence-based and performance-focused services, to address issues identified by coaches and athletes. • To build in-depth technical capabilities in at least one sport. Research & Development (R&D) • To establish a robust R&D roadmap focused on strategic requirements and targeted issues that will enhance medal winning opportunities. • To conduct more upstream research in collaboration with the Universities and Research institutes to remain at the forefront of scientific enquiry. • To conduct exercise and health related R&D work that will impact the larger Singapore community. Education • To develop and deliver educational materials, as well as to educate coaches, athletes and students through the means of workshops and courses. • To teach, mentor and supervise interns and trainees attached to High-Performance Sport Institute. Capability Development • To identify knowledge gaps and resources to bridge these gaps. • To implement a career pathway based on best practices and in accordance with international standards. • To reach out to the pool of experts in Singapore by engaging with local and international domain experts through seminars and workshops. Manpower planning • To conduct manpower planning and development of Sport Psychology support by the Sport Science and Medicine Centre. • To grow the pipeline of Sport Psychologists and provide professional mentoring to specialists, students and interns on various assignments related to High-Performance Sport Institute’s focus.

What we are looking for

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who value integrity, teamwork and take pride in going the extra mile to provide excellent service to stakeholders and the community. This individual should be a sport advocate through living an active lifestyle and staying active. The ideal candidate should possess the following: • Background in Sport Psychology or a related field with at least 8-10 years post-Masters in supporting high performance sports • Evidence of involvement in high quality peer-reviewed R & D work internationally • Obtained professional qualifications such as ISSP-R, BASES, AHPRA, or equivalent • Demonstrate care for people, strength through teamwork and passion for sport • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, service and excellence • Possess good oral and written communication skills, negotiation and consultation skills, open and dedicated to engaging in respectful and effective relationship building with stakeholders from diverse sports and backgrounds • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team • Willingness and ability to work unconventional hours and undertake overseas assignments Only shortlisted applicants will be notified.
