The Communications and Engagement Cluster manages PSD’s internal communications to public officers across the Public Service, and external communications to members of public, media and stakeholders. We work with partners to encourage public officers to grow their skills and pursue agile innovation and foster a culture of care and support for well-being within the Public Service. We also seek to build awareness of the diverse and rewarding careers offered by the Public Service.

What you will be working on
As part of the Media Relations team, you will:
• Develop and implement communications plans for our events and announcements. This includes recommending media engagement strategies, developing narratives and key messages to achieve policy objectives, drafting communications materials.
• Foster good relations with media, partners and stakeholders.
• Facilitate media interviews and queries.
• Respond to queries from members of the public and other feedback providers.
• Prepare drawer plans for anticipated issues to ensure PSD is ready to manage communications in a crisis.
What we are looking for
Competencies Required
• [Media Relations] Aware of newsrooms operations and needs. Able to craft newsworthy angles for effective media pitches. Skilled in engaging media representatives and presenting government positions.
• [Media Analytics and Sensing] Understands the media landscape in Singapore and familiar with analytics tools and metrics. Skilled in identifying emerging issues and deriving insights to inform communications plans.
• [Communications Strategy] Able to turn data and insights into actionable strategies. Aware of the range of communications tools and channels available and able to recommend appropriate channels and approaches to meet objectives. Able to collaborate with leaders, policy teams and external partners to align messaging and communications approaches for PSD’s and whole-of-government announcements and events.
• [Message Framing and Delivery] Strong writing skills. Able to use insights to craft clear, concise and compelling narratives and messages for different target audiences and platforms.
• [Crisis Communications and Planning] Able to anticipate issues and prepare drawer plans and holding lines to ensure PSD is ready to manage communications in a crisis.
• [Thinking Clearly and Making Sound Judgements] Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Able to work with ambiguity and loosely defined problem spaces, and investigate to sense-make, propose and implement sound and solutions in narrow timeframes.
