About New Ventures

Companies globally are getting disrupted by technology and shifts in business models. There is an urgent need for them to be developing new revenue streams and new businesses. To address this, the EDB New Ventures team is fueling the drive towards corporate venture building and new venture creation here in Singapore.

In EDB New Ventures, we are spearheading novel ways of supporting companies in their corporate venturing journey, experienced founders in building new ventures, and growth stage ventures to land their presence in Singapore. This includes embarking on joint venture building sprints, co-investment to risk-share early-stage growth of their ventures and active portfolio value creation to scale each venture. To drive awareness and level up the ecosystem capabilities in corporate venturing, our team is also responsible for developing and executing new outreach models, programmes and community building efforts.

What you will be working on

We are looking for an Executive Officer to join the dynamic team. In this role, your key responsibilities will be to manage the team’s operational and administrative needs. This will include:

Admin Support & Research

  • Support senior members of the New Ventures team to conduct high value quantitative and qualitative research, and providing assessments;
  • Support senior members of the New Ventures team on due diligence processes;
  • Support senior members of the New Ventures team in meetings with companies, founders and investors by preparing pre and post meeting materials;
  • Monitoring submissions of required documents and review of such documents according to the limits and guidelines as governed by the investment document and internal frameworks;
  • Manage company performance and incentive reporting; and
  • Collating data, maintaining databases and proper documentation of files.

Team Calendaring & Events Operations

  • Coordinate logistics and schedules for meetings and trips for the team;
  • Manage founder community event calendar and event logistics;
  • Develop sales enablement materials to support the team to engage founders; and
  • Other operations duties as necessary, such as Business Continuity Plan efforts.

This role is expected to be primarily a support role for internal teams. Candidates who are additionally able to undertake the following will be preferentially considered:

  • Aptitude to develop process improvements or adopt new tools to improve team operations
  • Experience in independently interfacing with external parties in client or partner management situations

What we are looking for

To meet the challenges of this position, you must have/be:

  • Academic or professional training in Business Administration/Event Management/Communications/Risk Management preferred
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office & Excel and Internet-savvy
  • A team player, with proactive/can-do approach and attitude
  • Thorough attention to detail and accuracy of delivery
  • Adaptable, receptive to uncertainty and change
  • A good command of English and Mandarin is required for this role
  • Singaporean
