FabLab Singapore Polytechnic (FabLab SP), part of the Department of Academic Quality & Resources, is a dynamic learning hub, providing our students with resources, services, and an environment that enables them to discover their interests, connect with ideas, resources and expertise, and to create content, concepts, and prototypes using digital fabrication, turning ideas into physical reality. As part of the global FabLab network, FabLab SP is one of 70+ nodes worldwide and the only node in SE Asia offering the Fab Academy Diploma, an international programme awarded by the Fab Foundation and recognized by many institutions worldwide. FabLab SP provides a suite of facilities and programmes on digital fabrication and prototyping skills in a safe, conducive environment.

The role of a Maker Education and Curriculum Innovation specialist (Lecturer) is both challenging and meaningful. The role offers opportunities to design and develop innovative curricula, introduce new programmes and learning models, and contribute to consultancy and applied research projects in Maker Education, Digital Fabrication, and Design Thinking. Administrative and coordination work related to teaching, partnerships, and institutional initiatives will form an integral part of the role.

What you will be working on

•    Conduct and facilitate hands-on learning sessions and develop teaching and assessment materials for Pre-Employment Training (PET), Continuing Education and Training (CET), and school-based programmes.
•    Design, review, and continuously enhance curriculum and programme content to ensure relevance, learning effectiveness, and alignment with industry and national education directions.
•    Keep abreast of developments in Maker Education, digital fabrication, and emerging technologies, and translate these into meaningful learning experiences.
•    Enhance learner development through activities such as project supervision, competitions, internships, learning journeys, and overseas programmes.
•    Participate in consultancy and applied innovation projects with industry and education partners.
•    Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver applied industry projects and education initiatives.
•    Support SkillsFuture and national education initiatives, including teacher training and CET programmes.
•    Handle administrative and coordination work related to teaching, programmes, and partnerships.

What we are looking for

•    Tertiary education in Education, Engineering, Design, Technology, or a related discipline. Applicants with a background in Design, or experience in Maker Education, Digital Fabrication, or Design Thinking will be an added advantage
•    At least 5 years of relevant teaching, curriculum development, or applied learning experience, preferably in tertiary or innovation-focused environments.
•    Strong passion for mentoring learners and educators, with genuine concern for learner development.
•    Demonstrated ability to design and deliver project-based, technology-enabled learning experiences.
•    Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
•    Prior experience in leading projects or teams

To be able to carry out the role successfully, the appointee must be competent at least 4 of the following areas:
•    Digital Fabrication & Making (e.g. 3D printing, laser cutting, prototyping)
•    Maker Education & Applied Learning Pedagogy
•    Design Thinking & Project-Based Learning
•    STEM / STEAM Curriculum Design
•    Educational Technology & Technology-Enhanced Learning
•    Innovation & Experiential Learning Programmes
•    AI and Emerging Technologies in Education

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
