What the role is

The Senior Specialist (Design, Strategic Planning and Project Management), will play a pivotal role in planning, designing, and executing initiatives aligned with the NYP Campus Masterplan and Campus Rejuvenation projects. This includes overseeing the architectural and sustainable design, space planning and phased remodeling of campus spaces. The role involves overall planning and management of the Campus Masterplan and Campus Rejuvenation projects to meet the strategic, financial, quality and operational objectives of NYP. You will contribute to creating an eco-friendly, innovative, and inclusive environment that enhances the overall campus experience

What you will be working on

Design Management

  • Responsible for Sustainable Design and Space Planning aspects of building, fit-out and infrastructure projects which will encompass conducting feasibility studies, budgeting, obtaining funding approval, design, project programming, procurement, regulatory compliance, design review and quality assurance.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify requirements and propose conceptual design for the Campus Masterplan and Campus Rejuvenation projects and integrate them into project briefs and designs.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate Sustainable Design and Space Planning solutions to meet the project objectives, requirements and budget.
  • Review, challenge and value-add on the designs/specification/drawings submitted by consultants and contractors to achieve quality, compliance and value for money.
  • Manage and review architecture, space planning, interior design and material proposals from consultants and contractors, and to ensure compliance to specifications and code requirements.
  • Provide technical support for special projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Strategic Planning and Project Management

  • Responsible for overall strategic planning of the Campus Masterplan and Campus Rejuvenation project, ensuring alignment with NYP’s vision and objectives while achieving key milestones efficiently.
  • Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on project requirements and compliances. This will include remodeling of space in phases, planning and managing processes for funding approvals, consultations and clearances with authorities and government agencies, seeking approval from NYP’s management and oversight committees.
  • Oversee team of multi-disciplinary consultants to ensure project completion within schedule and budget while meeting strategic, design, quality and operational objectives.

- Manage design and interface coordination through different project phases to ensure operational continuity. Review project schedules and ensure minimal disruption to operations.

- Attend consultant and site meetings with the Project Team and carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with sustainability goals, quality standards, project timeline and budget.

- Manage external/outsourced resources (consultants and site supervisory staff) to execute the projects.

- Ensure that contractors carry out work in a safe manner with the necessary risk assessments and workplace safety measures in place to manage project risks.

- Provide technical support to stakeholders in the resolution of technical issues when needed.

- Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities as required by Management in the course of work.

What we are looking for

- Relevant qualification with at least 10 years of relevant working experience as Space Planner, Architect or Project Manager preferably in public/developer organizations or consulting firms.

Relevant experience in the planning, design and implementation of large-scale development projects with sustainability and smart building solutions, and Design for safety requirements.

- Working experience and knowledge of Government policies; functions and requirements of key Agencies and the regulatory framework for development projects.

- Strong in people management, good writing, communication and presentation skills.

- Detail-oriented and yet capable of macro analysis with good acumen in management and resolution of technical issues and challenges.
