Senior Engineer - Principal Engineer (Strategic Land Planning)
What the role is
What you will be working on
Responsibilities:
2 main areas:
Area 1:
To work with Government Agencies and Transmission Licensee (SP PowerGrid) on the forward planning and implementation in the routing of gas/electricity services major infrastructure projects; ie electricity cables, tunnels/ducts, Gas pipelines, Underground Service Ducts, Common Service Ducts, Utilities Service Tunnels, etc. This includes conceptual planning studies which comprises budget estimation, optimising/reviewing of utilities requirements, service plans studies (e.g. space optimisation, co-location, alternative implementation strategy). Review utilities requirements, service plans (eg. space optimisation, co-location, alternative implementation strategy).
Engagement with other Government ministries/agencies (MTI, MND, URA, JTC, HDB, LTA, PUB, IMDA, NEA, NPark, etc) and relevant stakeholders (nature group, welfare organization, etc)
Area 2 :
You will be part of the team to plan for Singapore's energy infrastructure to meet growing energy demands taking into account energy security and sustainability. You will be working closely with Government Agencies (MTI, MND, MINDEF, URA, SLA, JTC, HDB, EDB, SFA, LTA, PUB, IMDA, NEA, NPark, etc) and Transmission Licensee (SP PowerGrid) on the forward planning of land needs for energy infrastructures, including safeguarding of land. There are 2 main parts:
Part 1: Energy Infrastructure Development
Focusing on the planning and development of key energy infrastructure, including the key facilities (HVDC station, HVAC station, switching station, cables, etc) for electricity imports, the development of the energy clusters (Power plants, Carbon Capture, Energy Storage, Hydrogen), electricity and gas network planning (electricity cables, tunnels/ducts, Gas pipelines, transmission substations, gas high pressure transmission offtake stations, etc). This also include the technical assessment and engaging consultant to carry out feasibility study of greenfield sites for power plants.
Part 2: Electricity Import
Assessing and securing suitable landing sites, including determining feasible sea and land cable routes for electricity imports.
What we are looking for
Requirements:
Education in Electrical/Chemical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering
Preferably with 2 years' working experience in electricity generation and/or network planning, projects implementation, plants/network operations and maintenance
