The psychologist role focuses on addressing the evolving landscape of communications and misinformation in the context of national security and social resilience. This position is crucial in conducting research on the psychology of communications, misinformation, and hate/radical rhetoric, as well as developing strategies to counter information disorder. The role involves guiding and supervising department and Home Team psychologists, enhancing research expertise, and applying psychological insights to address operational and organisational challenges within MHA.

What you will be working on
Research and Analysis in Crisis Communications
• Lead research on psychology of strategic, risk, and crisis communications in Home Team context
• Conduct studies on audience effects, source credibility, and public trust
• Research psychological aspects of misinformation, hostile information campaigns, and propaganda
• Analyze impact of communications on social resilience and trust in public institutions
• Evaluate and develop research-informed strategies to counter information disorder
• Study psychology of hate/radical rhetoric and its impact on society's resilience
Data Analytics and Technical Leadership
• Provide technical leadership in psychological data analytics
• Develop and implement data management policies and practices
• Guide HT psychologists in managing data lifecycle for projects
• Review and organize analytical courses for HT psychologists
• Develop software and application tools for HT psychology users
• Generate reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions
Strategic Communications Development
• Design and implement communication strategies for risk communication and crime prevention
• Develop inoculation strategies against misinformation
• Create and test messaging effectiveness
• Translate research findings into practical communications solutions
• Provide research-informed inputs to stakeholders for policy development
Stakeholder Management
• Develop and maintain networks with stakeholders (HTDs, government agencies, academic institutions)
• Collaborate with partners on research projects
• Cultivate MHA's reputation through publications and presentations
• Participate in professional forums and academic conferences
• Build partnerships within the psychological research ecosystem
Others
• Support administrative work that is being undertaken by the Home Team Psychology Division
• Any other tasks as directed by the Chief Psychologist, Director, Deputy Director, and reporting supervisor
What we are looking for
• Minimum 8 years of experience in psychological and behavioral sciences research
• Strong background in research methodology and data analytics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong project management and organizational abilities
• Proficiency in data science and computational methods
• Knowledge of major communications theories
• Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods
