What the role is

You will be part of a dynamic team leading the planning, design, development, and maintenance of software applications for MSD’s enterprise systems, ensuring secure coding practices and mitigating vulnerabilities with reference to organisational policies and industry best practices. This is done to maintain the performance, resilience, scalability, and security of our digital solutions. You will maintain oversight of the software development lifecycle, as well as review, enhance, and recommend new engineering processes to ensure applications are in compliance with established enterprise architecture and control frameworks. This is both a digital and cybersecurity role, where you will acquire niche expertise in cybersecurity practices to meet high standards, rigorously challenge assumptions, and significantly reduce attack surfaces before deployment.

What you will be working on

You will be analysing complex business requirements, software architectures, and diverse codebases. You will also be guiding the development team through the implementation of robust deployment pipelines while referring to technical standards, enterprise governance frameworks, and agile best practices.

What we are looking for

You should have a tertiary education, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, with relevant hands-on experience in full-stack software engineering and guiding development teams. You must possess good written and verbal communication skills, and be a strong team player. Possession of certifications in agile methodologies, DevSecOps, and/or enterprise software architecture is advantageous. Fresh graduates are welcomed to apply.

About Military Security Department

The Military Security Department (MSD)’s core business is in Counter Intelligence and internal security for MINDEF/SAF. MSD was formed in 1975 to counter the threats of espionage, subversion and sabotage against MINDEF/SAF. It began with two main entities, namely the Counter Intelligence Branch (CIB) and Field Security Branch (FSB). Over the years, the department has continued to evolve and our roles expanded in tandem with the changing security environment. Today, our roles also include Counter Terrorism and Cyber Security.
