Executive Chemist, Analytical Chemistry Laboratory

As a Chemist in the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, Chemical Lab Division of Water Quality Department, you will be involved in registration of water samples for the laboratory, routine water quality testing, as well as development and implementation of advanced chemistry analytical methods to ensure robust water quality monitoring for water safety. Your main roles and responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct chemical tests (e.g. pH, conductivity, turbidity, fluoride, ammonia, Total Organic Carbon, Chloride, ammonia) and report results via LIMS. • Support investigations into water quality incidents (e.g. pollution, contamination) and provide recommendations to mitigate and improve water quality, including urgent cases with samples received after office hours. • Perform QAQC checks, review and develop test methods (including SOPs, MU and MV) to enhance testing capabilities of Analytical Chemistry Lab. • Support R&D studies, automation projects, carry out experiments and recommend measures to improve water quality testing and monitoring of chemical parameters • Manage contracts, purchases and inventory for Analytical Chemistry Lab to track budget and resources. • Carry out registration of samples to the Water Quality Laboratory, including logging samples and required analytical tests for each sample, and communication with various laboratories for follow up analysis

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related field • Experience in laboratory analytical techniques will be an advantage • Good written, communication and interpersonal skills, and able to work in a team-oriented environment • Meticulous, resourceful, organised and self-driven with critical thinking skills • Motivated, responsible and proactive individual
