As part of the National Accounts team, you will be responsible for the compilation, analysis and dissemination of macroeconomic indicators for a comprehensive overview of the Singapore economy, to empower decision making. Statistics produced include Gross Domestic Product by the three approaches (The Production Approach, The Expenditure Approach, and The Income Approach), unit labour and business cost, and gross national income and savings.

What you will be working on
You will be involved in implementing methodological updates based on recommendations from international organisations such as the United Nations (UN) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), focusing on designing automated workflows to enhance compilation processes.
You will also be involved in managing, processing, and analysing large datasets from diverse sources using programming languages and technical tools. You may be required to design, manage and optimise scripts, data pipelines and databases for time series and National Accounts data.
You will be expected to support the division’s data analytics and automation projects, including designing and implementing machine learning models, artificial intelligence solutions, and advanced programming techniques to improve productivity and data quality.
You will work closely with economists, policy analysts, data scientists and other statisticians within and outside the public service
What we are looking for
1. Possess knowledge or experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Accountancy, Mathematics, Actuarial Science and/or subjects with substantial quantitative content (e.g., regression, analytics, modelling, forecasting)
2. Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to learn and apply relevant programming languages, machine learning techniques and automated tools for data compilation and analysis
3. Good communication and presentation skills
4. Able to work well both independently and as a member of a team
