What the role is

Role We are seeking a Consultant/Senior Consultant to join the DID Team within the CSA CIO Office. This role serves as a strategic-technical bridge between enterprise data governance, cybersecurity operations, and digital transformation initiatives. You will assist with data engineering efforts while implementing governance frameworks that ensure secure, reliable, and accessible data across the organisation to support CSA's mission and strategic objectives.

What you will be working on

Responsibilities • Enterprise Data Governance You will develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies, standards, and procedures across CSA. This includes establishing data stewardship frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, creating governance structures that balance security with accessibility, and managing data governance workflows and monitoring systems. • Data Architecture and Platform Strategy You will assist in the design and implementation of scalable data architectures and platforms that support CSA's cybersecurity and operational requirements. This involves evaluating and recommending data technologies, designing integration patterns, building efficient data pipelines, and ensuring platforms meet security, performance, and governance standards. • Data Quality and Metadata Management You will establish data quality frameworks, implement automated quality monitoring systems, and manage enterprise metadata repositories. This includes developing data lineage tracking, creating and maintaining data catalogues, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across systems, and conducting data inventories and security risk assessments. • Analytics and Decision Support You will build and maintain analytical capabilities that support strategic and operational decision-making. This involves developing dashboards and visualisations using business intelligence tools, implementing self-service analytics platforms, creating predictive models for analysis, and presenting complex data in accessible formats for various stakeholder groups. • Innovation and Digital Advancement You will evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies in the data space, recommend new tools and approaches, and lead the adoption of innovative solutions that enhance the team's capabilities and impact.

What we are looking for

Requirements Education and Experience • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical discipline • 5-7 years of progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related technical roles • Demonstrated experience implementing data governance frameworks and leading complex data projects • Experience working in cybersecurity, government, or highly regulated environments preferred Technical Expertise • Proficiency in data engineering tools and programming languages (Python, R, SQL) for data analysis and pipeline development • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (Spark, Kafka, Flink) • Knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and tools (Airflow, Talend, Informatica, dbt) • Proficiency in data visualisation and business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, AWS QuickSight) • Understanding of data governance tools, metadata management systems, and data cataloguing solutions • Knowledge of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements • Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD tools would be advantageous Leadership and Communication • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple technical projects simultaneously • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging both technical and business audiences • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences • Experience translating business requirements into technical data solutions Domain Knowledge • Understanding of cybersecurity, risk management, or related domains would be advantageous • Experience working in government or highly regulated environments preferred • Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements Personal Attributes • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail • Self-motivated individual who can work independently and drive technical initiatives forward • Collaborative approach with ability to work across diverse teams • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with data engineering technologies This role offers the opportunity to shape CSA's data engineering capabilities while ensuring robust data governance and security standards that support our cybersecurity operations and digital transformation initiatives.
