The jobholder will act as a key liaison between external stakeholders beyond Home Team such as the Whole-of-Government (WOG) entities and internal technical teams, focusing on understanding operational challenges and translating them into actionable requirements. This is a business-oriented coordination role, supported by in-house Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for detailed technical execution.
What you will be working on
The jobholder will be responsible for the following:
• Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering: Engage external agencies and Home Team departments to understand their operational needs, particularly those related to security, crisis management, and enforcement.
• Use Case Analysis & Translation: Analyse operational workflows and use cases to identify opportunities for Science and Technology (S&T) solutions.
• Business Case Development (AOR Papers): Lead the development of Approval of Requirements (AOR) papers. This involves framing the operational justification, outlining the benefits, and coordinating inputs from various stakeholders to secure project approval.
• Workshop Facilitation: Plan and facilitate workshops and discussion sessions with both external stakeholders and internal teams. Ensure these sessions effectively capture requirements, align expectations, and drive consensus on project scope and priorities.
• Project Coordination & Governance: Oversee the project timeline and budget in a coordinating capacity. Provide regular progress updates to management, highlighting key milestones, potential risks, and expenditures. Ensure project issues are tracked and escalated to management or the technical team for resolution.
• Data Digitalisation & Requirements Synthesis: Work with stakeholders to understand their current data landscape and identify digitalisation opportunities.
• Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Effectively manage relationships with all relevant parties, ensuring smooth communication and coordination between the end-users and the in-house technical delivery team.
What we are looking for
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering/ Computer Science/ Information Technology or a related disciplines.
• 3-5 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong interest in technologies and innovation, especially robotics, automation, sense-making, and other S&T domains.
• Proven planning, project management and business analysis skills; data Visualisation ability is a plus.
• Experience working with Home Team agencies (or being familiar with their operations, procedures and tools) will be an advantage.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical ability to process multiple information streams from diverse stakeholders, digest and prioritise them from an organisational perspective.
• Capability to integrate information from a wide range of sources in a complex environment and synthesise key issues and considerations.
• Generates innovative ideas and solutions that can be practically executed to deliver significant organisational benefits.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
