What the role is

The Manager serves as a member of the Chingay Production team to organise the annual Chingay Parade as a key national level project of PA in bringing people together through building and bridging communities, promoting racial harmony and appreciation of our diverse cultures. He/She works closely with many organisations and stakeholders including the private, people and public sectors, as well as international groups, to present a high quality and refreshing Parade.

He/She will also support the Division in procurement related administrative duties and ensure the necessary administrative procedures are properly executed and documented.

He/She will also support the Division in effectively organising other arts and culture programmes and projects of varying scale, including national and international level, to meet the division’s strategic & operational goals.

What you will be working on

For Chingay Parade

  • Assists in production conceptualisation and planning, as well as the execution of related briefing sessions, practices, rehearsals and actual parades.
  • Oversees the coordination of foreign groups participation, including identifying and outreach to suitable groups, facilitation of their participation, coordination of meetings and rehearsal schedules, management of hospitality during their visit in Singapore and partnership management.
  • Serves as a production manager to Chingay performing groups, coordinating the groups’ participation in the Chingay Parade and its rehearsals as well as related fringe events by providing administrative and technical support with regards to choreography, training, costumes, floats, props, sound and lighting etc, to ensure their items meet the acceptable standard of the parade.
  • Conducts audit checks to ensure that the performing items comply with artistic requirements of Chingay.
  • Assists to plan and coordinate ad-hoc Chingay projects that enable mass participation by the community and give support to logistic and administrative matters for the programme.

For PA Talents

  • Management of the PA Talents dance ensemble including development of PA Talents’ performers and volunteers, coordination of their involvement in performances and ensuring a professional standard and good rapport between staff and PA Talents’ performers and volunteers.

Other Divisional Duties

  • Manages the administrative duties to support the Division’s procurement and ensure the necessary administrative procedures are properly executed and documented.
  • Assists to plan and manage assigned ad-hoc programmes and projects and ensure successful implementation.
  • Supports ad-hoc programmes and projects in the area of performers coordination, as well as other production related duties.
  • Ensures that all administrative and logistics matters are done effectively and efficiently so as to optimise on the available resources.
  • Assists to manage the division’s inventory of the costumes, headgears, accessories, shoes and props as well as other logistics items; and the storage spaces.
  • Performs secretarial duties for Divisional and project meetings.
  • Serves as a Relationship Manager to build and maintain close working relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by Senior Officers

  • Experience in event management and/or performance management, with strong partnership competency
  • Meticulous and able to work independently
  • Resourceful and proactive
  • Possess creative and artistic flair and/or interest in performing arts
  • Able to work well under pressure and tight timelines; willing to work long and irregular hours and on weekends
