What the role is

The jobholder will be a member of xCybersecurity, providing security-by-design leadership to all departments in the Home Team and HTX. xCybersecurity promotes the adoption of defence-in-depth and security best practices and help enable the transformation of Home Team’s cybersecurity capabilities. Through our work, we enhance the resilience of Home Team information-communication systems and networks against sophisticated threats to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The role requires an experienced leader to spearhead the organization’s cybersecurity and AI security research initiatives. The jobholder will be responsible to develop and implement R&D plans in alignment with HTX’s cybersecurity strategy, directing research into emerging threats, and fostering collaboration with industry and academic partners to strengthen resilience against evolving cyber risks.

What you will be working on

As Head, Cyber Development & Research, you will be required to: • Develop and drive the organization’s overarching cybersecurity and AI security R&D strategy and framework. • Lead the creation of a cybersecurity R&D roadmap • Manage and coordinate cyber research portfolio of projects, driving innovation and translating research into practical security solutions. • Direct research projects to detect emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and trends in cybersecurity. • Translate research into innovative security solutions, including prototypes and automated tools. • Collaborate with developers, architects, and stakeholders to integrate new security solutions into systems. • Oversee the implementation of security processes and best practices across AI-enabled cyber projects. • Facilitate workshops, seminars, and knowledge-sharing platforms to promote continuous learning. • Build strong partnerships with industry, academia, and internal teams to enhance collaboration and expertise.

What we are looking for

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related Engineering fields • At least 8 years of experience in a relevant field, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role. • Professional cybersecurity qualifications such as CISSP, GCIH, or relevant AI security/emerging technology credentials (preferred). • Strong ability to multi-task and perform under extreme pressure with tight deadlines. • Meticulous planning skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. • Resilience in managing a reasonably high level of stress while maintaining effectiveness. • Demonstrated drive, level-headedness, and adaptability in dynamic environments. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders. All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
