What the role is

The jobholder will be a member of xCybersecurity, providing security-by-design leadership to all departments in the Home Team and HTX. xCybersecurity promotes the adoption of defence-in-depth and security best practices and help enable the transformation of Home Team’s cybersecurity capabilities. Through our work, we enhance the resilience of Home Team information-communication systems and networks against sophisticated threats to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The Deputy Director, AI Security & Research role requires a seasoned professional to lead strategic initiatives in AI security and AI-enabled cyber systems. The jobholder will oversee research and development projects for cybersecurity and AI security, translate findings into practical security solutions, and cultivate collaborations with industry and academia to strengthen organizational resilience against evolving cyber threats. In addition, the jobholder will oversee AI security product teams that develop, adapt and deploy solutions into HTX’s on-prem ICT infrastructure.

What you will be working on

As Deputy Director, AI Security & Research, you will be required to: • Assist the Director to shape and implement strategic plans for AI security and AI-enabled cyber systems, ensuring resilience against emerging threats. • Assess risks in AI technologies and provide expert guidance to strengthen organizational decision-making. • Lead and coordinate cyber research portfolio of projects, driving innovation and translating research into practical security solutions. • Develop project plans with clear objectives, timelines, and milestones, ensuring delivery on time and within budget. • Monitor progress of research initiatives, report updates to leadership, and make adjustments to keep projects aligned with goals. • Build strong collaborations with internal teams, industry partners, and academic institutions to enhance knowledge sharing and research impact. • Establish formal agreements with partners to define roles, responsibilities, and contributions for joint initiatives. • Strengthen the organization’s influence in AI security and cyber research through active engagement and thought leadership. • Direct the AI security product team to align to strategic plans of implementing AI solutions and foster cross-functional collaboration with other product, platform and infrastructure teams across HTX. • Champion innovation in AI-enabled cybersecurity, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and effective resource utilization.

What we are looking for

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related Engineering fields • At least 12 years of experience in a relevant field, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role. • Professional cybersecurity qualifications such as CISSP, GCIH, Offensive Security certifications, or relevant AI security/emerging technology credentials (preferred). • Strong ability to multi-task and perform under extreme pressure with tight deadlines. • Meticulous planning skills and attention to detail. • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. • Resilience in managing a reasonably high level of stress while maintaining effectiveness. • Demonstrated drive, level-headedness, and adaptability in dynamic environments. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders. All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
