You are responsible for ensuring robust safety systems and execution for specialised military training activities including heliborne, underslung and light strike vehicle operations. What you will be working on
- Develop and implement a comprehensive unit safety programme focusing on incident prevention across four key areas: Safety Education, Incident Reporting, Investigation and Analysis with Hazards and Near Miss Reporting, and Safety Audits and Inspections
- Update the Unit Occupational Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when new or amended safety policies, regulations or directives are issued
- Recommend remedial actions when issues are identified during inspections or when incidents occur
- Advise the unit as the subject matter expert on safety matters
- Ensure that safety appointment holders and conducting bodies are certified, qualified, and adhere to safety requirements and best practices with proper documentation in place
- Verify that camp infrastructure passes the necessary technical certification and compliance checks
Challenge(s)
- Specialised job scope requiring deep understanding of the Army's safety system and culture, policies and directives in both overseas and local contexts
- Relatively high training tempo with one or more overseas exercises per year, including overseas deployments
What we are looking for
- Relevant prior experience in training and safety is preferred
- Good awareness of changes in the Army's safety systems and policies, with the willingness to read and understand updates
- Ability to work effectively with individuals across diverse age groups and experience levels
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate tactfully but firmly
