What the role is

The Trade Division is responsible for driving Singapore's trade and developing Singapore as a global trading hub. Within the Trade Division, the Export Promotion Department (EPD) supports internationalisation efforts of enterprises, by providing advisory on Singapore’s trade frameworks, including Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) advisory to ease market access barriers and issues in overseas markets. We also work closely with the Ministry of Trade and Industry by providing industry feedback to better enhance our FTAs to ensure relevance for our companies.

What you will be working on

FTAs and Market Access:
In this role, you will work with companies, partners, and Government agencies to strengthen enterprises’ ability to access overseas markets through Singapore’s trade frameworks and network of Free Trade Agreements. You will provide advisory on trade rules and market access issues, support companies in navigating tariffs and Non-Tariff Barriers (NTB), and contribute industry insights to inform Singapore’s trade policy and FTA review processes. The role also involves developing trade knowledge resources and working across teams to enhance the accessibility and impact of trade advisory for companies.

You will:

  • Provide advisory on Singapore’s trade frameworks including FTAs and NTBs to support enterprise internationalisation efforts, helping companies navigate market access barriers and manage trade related issues in overseas markets.
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and other government agencies to support FTA reviews, negotiations, and implementation by providing industry perspectives and technical inputs.
  • Work with partners to develop and disseminate trade advisory to enhance companies’ awareness and utilisation of FTAs.
  • Develop and deliver trainings, workshops, and advisory sessions to educate enterprises.
  • Contribute to the development of trade frameworks that keep pace with export trends.

What we are looking for

We are looking for candidates with:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • An understanding of international trade policies including FTAs and NTMs, or a keen interest to develop an in-depth expertise in these areas.
  • Experience in providing advisory to enterprises or stakeholders, preferably in trade, policy, or related areas.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to distil complex trade rules into practical guidance for companies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in reviewing trade regulations and agreements.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, able to work effectively across teams and with government agencies.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in trade, economics, business, or a related discipline preferred.
