What the role is

The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.

What you will be working on

Duties include:

  • Assist with rehabilitation including training of animals from the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation
  • Support the management and upkeep of the rehabilitation centre, including manpower and inventory management of consumables
  • Oversee the daily care and well-being of animals, including treatment, feeding, husbandry, exercise, showering and grooming of animals
  • Handle administrative tasks of the centre such as animal record keeping, filing and ad-hoc duties where required
  • Assist with enhancement and refinement of existing behavioural rehabilitation protocols
  • Track animal’s progress in the rehabilitation journey to assess its readiness for rehoming
  • Facilitate rehoming procedures including adoption support, facilitating paperwork and liaising with rehabilitation partners and potential adopters
  • Contribute to ongoing projects as part of the Animal Rehabilitation and Programmes team

What we are looking for

  • Areas of study in Veterinary Technology / Veterinary Bioscience / Biological Sciences / Psychology preferred
  • Required to work on weekends and public holidays based on roster
  • Passionate about animals
  • Positive attitude, high level of initiative, energetic, physically fit, enjoys outdoor activity
  • Independent and able to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Willingness and dedication in acquiring new skills and knowledge related to animal care and rehabilitation. Experience in animal handling (dogs and cats) will be advantageous.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Applications
