What the role is

You are responsible for governing and strengthening Basic Military Training Centre's (BMTC) Training Institute-level Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) system, overseeing safety across BMTC schools and BMT training areas in Pulau Tekong while driving Training Institute-wide safety initiatives.

What you will be working on

- Serve as Specialist Staff Officer and principal safety advisor to Commander SAF BMTC - Provide leadership across BMTC and transient Unit Safety Officers - Liaise with external safety agencies - Govern and strengthen the BMTC Training Institute level OHS Management System, ensuring effective audits, inspections and compliance across schools, field training areas and ranges - Develop and drive OHS policies, directives, workplans and Training Institute wide safety initiatives - Lead safety data analysis, audits, inspections, investigations and education programmes - Identify risks, prevent recurrences and sustain an open reporting culture Challenge(s) - Maintaining consistent safety standards across BMTC Schools and OneBMT units despite high training throughput and frequent trainer turnover - Managing the complex operating environment to ensure timely dissemination of safety policies and hazard updates to tenant units and National Service Recruits (NSR) units operating across Pulau Tekong - Ensuring Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and safety requirements are clearly communicated, understood and adhered to by all active and National Service (NS) trainers across BMTC

What we are looking for

- Education in any field - At least 5 years of experience in work related to safety or compliance is preferred - Ability to operate effectively in a structured training environment - Good written and verbal communication skills to engage confidently across civilian and military stakeholders - Able to support training operations on the ground, including frequent field visits to Pulau Tekong Appointment will be commensurate with your experience.
