You will be responsible for developing innovative data solutions to enhance policy analysis capabilities. This role involves constructing synthetic datasets from complex mega datasets with multiple variables, setting up automated workflows using AWS QuickSuite for streamlined data cleaning and fusion processes and building knowledge bases that enable policy users to conduct language prompt-based policy analysis, and developing interactive chatbots using large language models for policy users. As one of two interns joining our data science team, you will focus on specific aspects of our three-pronged approach: synthetic data generation, automated workflow development with knowledge base construction for natural language querying, or text analysis and chatbot refinement using language models. You will work closely with our data science team to build proof-of-concept solutions that enable natural language querying of policy databases and automate traditionally manual data processing tasks. The ideal candidate must have strong programming and quantitative analysis skills, demonstrate curiosity about emerging technologies, and possess the ability to work independently on projects that will directly impact policy analysis capabilities.

What you will be working on
• Constructing synthetic datasets from complex mega datasets with multiple variables to maintain statistical properties for subsequent testing and workflow setup;
• Setting up and testing agentic workflows using AWS QuickSuite for automated data cleaning and fusion processes;
• Building knowledge bases and databases that enable policy users to conduct language prompt-based policy analysis;
• Implementing and refining interactive chatbots using large language models for policy user applications;
• Conducting text analysis and natural language processing to enhance policy analysis capabilities;
• Collaborating with the data science team to develop proof-of-concept solutions and technical documentation.
