As an Engineer / Senior Engineer in the Flood Resilience Planning Department, you will be part of the flood resilience project planning team that develops strategies and engineering designs for inland drainage and coastal protection measures to address climate risks, including sea level rise and more intense rainfall. You will assess flood risks, evaluate engineering options, and coordinate with consultants and stakeholders to deliver integrated flood-resilient solutions.

What you will be working on
Your job role will include, but is not limited to the following:
• Support planning scoping and coordination of coastal protection and drainage studies by gathering site information, defining assumptions and consolidating stakeholders’ inputs.
• Assist with technical analysis (including interpreting hydraulic/coastal modelling results) to evaluate existing capacity, inland flood/coastal flood risks and potential climate impacts.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement through pre-consultations, clearances and discussions on recommended drainage and coastal protection measures.
• Coordinate with engineering consultants to ensure studies meet agency requirements, track deliverables, review submissions, document decisions and support meetings/ workshops.
• Develop and compare options of drainage improvement works and coastal protection solutions, considering cost effectiveness, land requirements, and site constraints.
• Support tender process by preparing tender documents, evaluating submissions and assist in awarding tenders for engineering studies.
• Monitor project progress and schedule, manage records and ensure compliance with the contract specifications, regulations and relevant codes of practice to deliver on time and within budget.
• Prepare project papers that presents options, cost estimates and funding proposals.
• Review and recommend alternative drainage schemes in collaboration with design and construction teams to address implementation challenges.
What we are looking for
• Degree in Civil or Environmental or Coastal Engineering
• Experience in hydraulics, drainage design, coastal engineering is preferred
• Knowledge of flood risk assessment, cost benefit analysis, environmental considerations in Singapore’s context is desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software; exposure to ArcGIS/QGIS and/or basic scripting for data analysis is an advantage
• Strong communication, analytical, writing and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
