What the role is
What you will be working on
Energy Management System (EMS) Operations & Supporting Infrastructure
- Provide operational and first-level technical support for the Energy Management System (EMS) to ensure high availability and reliability of power system operations. This includes supporting 24/7 monitoring and control of electricity generation, electricity transmission networks, and natural gas transmission systems.
· Perform operations and maintenance of EMS platforms, supporting operational technology (OT) systems, and associated OT/IT network and security infrastructure. Investigate and resolve technical issues reported by Power System Operators to ensure continuous and reliable system performance.
· Support the enhancement and development of mission-critical EMS capabilities, including the integration of renewable energy resources such as solar power, energy storage systems, and electricity imports.
· Assist in maintaining and optimizing power system applications used for real-time operations, such as contingency analysis, transmission network analysis, short circuit analysis, automatic generation control, load forecasting, solar PV forecasting, telemetry systems, state estimation, and dispatcher training simulators.
· Coordinate with licensees and stakeholders to facilitate the connection of new generation facilities and transmission equipment. This includes updating and validating EMS databases to ensure alignment between system models, field equipment, and operational requirements.
· Support the maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure that enables reliable control centre operations, including uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, fire protection systems, and physical security access control systems.
Cybersecurity Monitoring and Incident Management
· Provide operational support for the Cybersecurity Operations Centre (CSOC) to monitor and manage cybersecurity threats affecting power system operations and the Power Sector's Critical Information Infrastructure (CII).
· Responsibilities include analysing security alerts, identifying anomalies, performing incident triage, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders and CII operators to investigate and resolve cybersecurity incidents.
Cybersecurity Risk Management
· Support the implementation of cybersecurity controls and mitigation measures to strengthen the security posture of EMS and related systems in compliance with regulatory requirements, including the Cybersecurity Act and relevant Codes of Practice.
· Assist in conducting security reviews, risk assessments, and audits to identify vulnerabilities and security gaps. Support remediation activities such as implementing audit recommendations, performing system patching, and maintaining security documentation.
What we are looking for
· Basic knowledge of computer systems, including operating systems such as Linux, Unix, and Windows, as well as familiarity with computer hardware and system architecture.
· Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including common networking commands, basic networking protocols, and core security concepts.
· General understanding of information security principles and best practices, including areas such as risk management, application security, network security, and relevant standards or frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001).
