What you will be working on
The current vacancy is for the Policy and Research Cluster which oversee legislative and policy reviews. The team supports CNB’s policy and research work by reviewing drug policies and legislation, monitoring domestic and international developments, and contributing to evidence-based policymaking. As part of the team, the officer is expected to support the Assistant Director, Policy and Research, in the following areas of work:
• Assist in reviewing CNB’s drug policies, the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA), the Intoxicating Substances Act (INSA), and related regulations in light of emerging trends and developments and highlight areas where updates may be needed.
• Help develop CNB’s research plans to support policy decisions and the bureau’s anti-drug narrative. Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans on drug trends, foreign legislations, and policies. Compile and summarize findings from academic literature, legal texts, and operational data to provide inputs for policy discussions.
• Work with colleagues across divisions and external agencies to ensure policies are consistent with organisational priorities and broader government approaches. Support the coordination of research projects by engaging with researchers and monitoring progress.
• Keep track of policy-related initiatives, report on their progress, and provide observations on their effectiveness. Monitor developments in the domestic and international drug scene that may affect CNB’s stance, enforcement options, and policy responsiveness.
• Provide inputs into the drafting of new policy frameworks to address emerging challenges. Contribute to the evaluation of proposed legislative or policy amendments and their potential impact on CNB’s work.
• Help articulate CNB’s position on drug matters by contributing to narratives and responses prepared for domestic and international audiences.
What we are looking for
Job Requirements:
• A degree in any discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint (for presentation of findings).
• Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively. Strong presentation skills will be considered an advantage.
