AI Engineer

Role Overview: We are seeking an AI Engineer to join our Digital, AI and Transformation Department, focusing on generalist technical execution and infrastructure that enables our AI capabilities. This role will handle the foundational engineering work that allows our domain experts to concentrate on business-critical AI solutions and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure & Environment Management

• Manage and maintain complex cloud environments within Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) infrastructure for AI workloads
• Ensure secure, stable connectivity between internal government systems and AI tools and platforms
• Perform ongoing system maintenance and monitoring to guarantee optimal AI model performance
• Implement and maintain security protocols for AI data handling and model deployment

Rapid Prototyping & Technical Validation

• Conduct comprehensive technical due diligence for new AI technologies, frameworks, and vendor solutions
• Build proof-of-concepts to validate AI model feasibility and performance before full deployment
• Perform stress-testing of AI vendor APIs, model endpoints, and third-party AI integrations
• Document technical findings and provide recommendations for AI technology adoption

Pipeline Development & AI Infrastructure

• Develop and maintain automated data pipelines specifically designed for AI model training and inference
• Write robust code to ensure reliable data movement from source systems to AI models
• Implement MLOps practices for model deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
• Build and maintain AI model serving infrastructure and API endpoints

Must Have Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/Machine Learning, or related technical field
• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or related technical roles
• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in AI/ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure management for AI workloads (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of MLOps practices, model deployment, and monitoring
• Experience with API development and integration, particularly for AI services
• Understanding of data pipeline tools and ETL processes for AI applications

Good to Have (Existing Hire Considerations):

• Experience with Singapore Government technology standards and AI governance frameworks
• Familiarity with Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) environments and AI service offerings
• Knowledge of responsible AI practices and bias detection in government contexts
• Understanding of public sector data governance and privacy requirements for AI
• Previous experience implementing AI solutions in government or public sector environments
• Experience with natural language processing, computer vision, or other domain-specific AI applications
• Knowledge of AI model interpretability and explainability techniques
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for AI model deployment
