Senior Engineer/Executive Engineer (Chemical Control and Mgmt Dept) – Contract
What the role is
What you will be working on
Your primary job responsibilities will include the following:
Assess licence applications and carry out inspections on facilities handling hazardous substances or toxic industrial wastes, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and requirements
Attend to public feedback on matters related to hazardous substances or toxic industrial wastes
Provide technical assessments and evaluate environmental requirements for facilities handling hazardous substances or toxic industrial wastes
Carry out investigations into incidents involving hazardous substances or toxic industrial wastes
Review work processes and practices to enhance effectiveness and productivity
Put up reports and presentations to Senior Management on chemical and environmental pollution-related matters
Engage and consult relevant stakeholders (e.g. chemical companies, industry associations, government agencies, members of the public) on the management of hazardous substances or toxic industrial wastes
Represent NEA/PCD1 in inter-agency and cross-departmental committees and working groups to provide relevant technical inputs on chemical and environmental pollution control
Contribute to and support other work in PCD1 and NEA (e.g. management of workplace safety, response to pollution incidents after office hours, representation on various teams/committees, etc.)
What we are looking for
The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:
Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or other related engineering disciplines
2 or more years of relevant working experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing operations, pollution control or environmental management. Fresh graduates will also be considered.
Interest in environmental protection and adept at working with different stakeholders
Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to articulate analysis and recommendations in clear and concise terms
A good team player with strong interpersonal skills
Highly motivated and able to work independently
Meticulous with an eye for detail
Driven, resourceful, organised and able to multi-task
Able and willing to work on weekends and after office hours, if required
