What the role is

Purpose of Job

You will run the SFA Operations Centre on a day-to-day basis under the leadership of Deputy Director, SFA Operations Centre (SOC), strengthening its capabilities in automation, AI-enabled monitoring, and incident response, through hands-on implementation and operational execution.
Working under the guidance of the Deputy Director, you will play a key role in translating operational requirements into practical system solutions, enhancing real-time monitoring, and ensuring timely and effective response to food safety and security incidents.

This position requires a candidate with strong technical and analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a structured and fast-paced operational environment.

What you will be working on

Duties                                                                                              

  • Run the day-to-day operations of SFA's Ops Centre, including real-time monitoring and surveillance of food safety systems and data feeds, ensuring timely detection and escalation of potential issues.

  • Implement and maintain automation workflows, dashboards, and system integrations to enhance operational efficiency and situational awareness.

  • Support the deployment and operationalisation of AI/analytics tools (e.g. anomaly detection, trend monitoring) for improved risk sensing and decision support.

  • Execute incident management procedures, including coordination, escalation, tracking, and documentation of incidents in accordance with established protocols.

  • Prepare timely and accurate situation reports, dashboards, and briefings to support operational decision-making.

  • Support system testing, drills, and readiness activities to ensure operational effectiveness during contingency scenarios.

  • Identify and implement practical process improvements to enhance response time, data quality, and workflow efficiency.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to support data collection, system integration, and issue resolution, ensuring smooth operations of Ops Centre systems.

This role reports to Deputy Director (SOC) and Director (CORM) of SFA.

What we are looking for

Qualifications                                                                                

  • Highly self-motivated, able to work under pressure and respond effectively in time-sensitive situations

  • Strong execution skills with the ability to follow through on tasks with accuracy and timeliness

  • Good analytical skills and ability to interpret operational data

  • Good degree, with a preference for candidates with at least 3–5 years of relevant work experience

  • Familiarity with automation tools, data analytics, or AI applications in operations will be an advantage

  • Experience in operations centre, incident management, or monitoring roles will be advantageous

  • Proficient in both written and oral communication, capable of conveying information clearly and concisely

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with experience working with stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player within the Divisional / Departmental context.

About Singapore Food Agency

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health. The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
