The role is for a Senior Assistant Director in the Science and Technology Planning Division (STPD). You will support the strategy and master-planning work in Science & Technology (S&T) through digital and AI solutions. These efforts range from working with MSE Family (MSE-F) agencies to synergise and support their AI and Digital technologies capability development to improve efficiencies while enhancing the rigour of reviewing RIE R&D proposals.
STPD uses S&T as an enabler to support the overall MSE vision of creating a sustainable, resource-resilient and climate-resilient Singapore. S&T topics are broad, ranging from water resources, resource circularity, climate adaptation to food security, verticals where AI and Digital Technologies can be a game changer.
You will be part of a dynamic team that drives the strategic translation of MSE-F research output into commercial and operational applications, addressing Singapore’s national imperatives.

What you will be working on
As a member of the STPD team, your job scope includes:
•Lead transformation of MSE-F operations through capability building and ops-tech integration.
•Establish a common platform for the MSE-F to collect and store research data and enable subsequent analytics to draw insights.
•Co-develop a common data environment system to facilitate data sharing across WOG and with the research community.
•Build capabilities within MSE-F to undertake AI projects.
•Develop and implement AI-assisted S&T research proposals evaluation to improve assessment efficiencies for MSE-F.
•Implement near-term automation technologies and enablers (e.g. robotics middleware framework) within MSE-F.
What we are looking for
•A degree in relevant fields such as AI or engineering fields.
•2 or more years of experience in the AI/Digital capability development, S&T, or adjacent expertise in sustainability domains would be an advantage.
•Strong ability to validate and translate users’ requirements into solutions.
•Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with deep understanding of innovation ecosystem and technology translation processes.
•Ability to apply systems thinking and understand complex technology-market dynamics across sustainability domains.
•Experience in R&D management and Government Ministry coordination work would be beneficial.
•Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
