Forensic Scientist - DNA Profiling Laboratory
What the role is
What you will be working on
• Conduct and supervise DNA analysis of crime samples
• Interpretation and statistical analysis of forensic DNA results
• Preparation and review of reports, and provision of expert Court testimony
• Participate in QA/QC activities
• Plan and perform R&D studies
• Analysis of R&D results and publication of findings
• Assist the Laboratory Director in general laboratory administrative matters and technical staff training
What we are looking for
• Background in Life Sciences, with coursework modules in Mendelian Genetics, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology, from a recognized university.
• Sound life sciences knowledge with proven expertise in molecular biology/genetics as evidenced by publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Preferably have 1-2 years experience with statistical software (e.g. R, SPSS, SAS) in life sciences setting.
• Familiarity with population genetics or metagenomics on MPS will be an advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative team player with initiative and able to work independently.
