The Community Relations Unit (CRU) is a new and growing team, set up to pilot a new concept of operations to tackle severe neighbour noise disputes and hoarding cases.
CRU is part of the Municipal Services Office (MSO), which works to improve and transform the Government's delivery of municipal services, so that Singaporeans continue to enjoy a high-quality living environment.

What you will be working on
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director (Legal), your role will be as follows:
• Advising on the unit’s legal and regulatory affairs which may arise during the course of CRU’s operations.
• Overseeing, managing and directing investigations with respect to serious and severe neighbour noise nuisances ;
• Determining and recommending the appropriate course of enforcement action, which may include prosecutions;
• Assessing the type of training necessary for community relations officers and conducting training on investigative processes, criminal procedure, evidence and available regulatory powers under the Community Disputes Resolution Act;
• Vetting enforcement documents, such as warning letters and notices of composition;
• Appearing in Court for prosecution matters and preparation of court documents, such as charges, statements of fact and sentencing submissions; and
• Working closely with other CRU officers and officers from other government agencies such as SPF and HDB.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Candidates should either be a qualified person under the Legal Profession Act or a person called to the Singapore Bar
• Creativity, an ability to work independently and good judgement
• An ability to work under pressure
• Up to 3 years of legal and/or prosecution experience. Candidates without legal experience will be considered.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathetic, and able to think from the layperson’s perspective.
• Strong analytical ability.
• Team player who takes initiative, is willing to learn, and curious about what is happening in our neighbourhoods.
