What you will be working on
- Assess the food establishment licence applications, which includes:
- Conducting site assessment
- Evaluating the architectural layout plan, process flows and particulars of products
- Verification checks at the premises and make recommendations whether to grant a SFA licence to the applicant
- Provide guidance to applicants on interpretation of the licensing requirements.
- Review the effectiveness of the roll out of Safety Assurance for Food Establishments (SAFE) Phase 1 as well as to develop the implementation plan for SAFE Phase 2
- Work closely with other Divisions and engage the stakeholders, training providers on matters related to SAFE
- Represent Department to participate in inter-agency projects, committees and working groups
- Work closely with relevant agencies on issues related to licensing of food establishments
- Participate in the review of work processes and standard operating procedures pertaining to licensing of food establishments.
- Involve in IT related projects and system review which include prepare licensing reports and provide data analysis
What we are looking for
- A tertiary degree in Food Technology/Food Science/ Biology/Biotechnology or other Science-related discipline.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and taking initiative.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good team player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders in the public and private sector.
- Willing to work outside office hours on occasion.
- Candidates with previous working experience in the food industry will have an added advantage, but not necessary.

About Singapore Food Agency
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health.
The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
