What the role is
What you will be working on
As Deputy Director of Regulatory Review & Analytics, you lead a team responsible for the systematic management and resolution of businesses’ feedback on regulations. Your team manages feedback cases received through PEO’s feedback channels, identifies systemic regulatory challenges through comprehensive data analysis, and strategic data evaluation initiatives. You will drive the development of robust measurement frameworks to evaluate regulatory effectiveness, working with agencies to implement these standards for assessing their regulatory health and enhancing their pro-enterprise approach. Your role includes coordinating comprehensive data collection and analytics to deliver integrated Whole-of-Government insights on regulatory performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Development
Direct and nurture a team dedicated to processing business feedback through PEO channels. Establish and uphold excellence in operational standards for case assessment and resolution, ensuring businesses receive prompt, and effective responses. Derive data-driven insights and identify opportunities to improve regulatory policies, operational processes, and communications with stakeholders. Lead case resolution initiatives and analytics programmes while developing the team's capability to meet evolving work dynamic requirements.
2. Regulatory Case & Issues Management
Oversee comprehensive management of business feedback received through PEO channels. Guide your team to deliver precise case diagnostics, facilitate productive engagement with regulatory agencies to secure pro-enterprise outcomes, and ensure efficient case closure. Implement robust escalation frameworks for complex, protracted cases requiring senior leadership’s interventions.
Drive implementation of new digital tools and technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence) that improve the way agencies regulate, e.g. how businesses submit applications, how agencies process applications.
3. Pro-Enterprise System Development
Provide directions to the IT and Systems team to advance the Pro-Enterprise System (PES), which is PEO's Customer Relationship Management system. Evaluate innovative features and functionalities that improve team’s effectiveness for case management, issue tracking, reporting capabilities, and analytical tools. Identify automation opportunities and integration possibilities with internal and external systems. Champion long-term alignment towards a unified Whole-of-Government system architecture.
4. Data Intelligence and Performance Analytics
Direct comprehensive analysis of PEO case data to extract meaningful trends and insights regarding service delivery standards and regulatory feedback patterns. Develop and implement performance measurements, indicators, and benchmarks for assessing regulatory health in each regulatory agency and across Whole-of-Government.
Implement the Inter-Ministerial Committee Statements of Commitment through coordinated data analysis covering service standards, licensing frameworks, and relevant Whole-of-Government performance indicators. Deliver regular, comprehensive progress reports from a Whole-of-Government perspective.
5. Ministerial platforms
Lead team efforts supporting the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Pro-Enterprise Rules Review. Design substantive meeting agendas to proactively identify potentially restrictive regulations or government requirements, anticipate business challenges, and drive forward the pro-enterprise policy agenda.
What we are looking for
Minimum eight years' progressive experience within regulatory agencies, service quality management, or comparable professional environments, including at least three years in junior management positions
Demonstrated experience across public sector, corporate, or SME operational contexts highly valued
Proficiency with data analysis tools and analytical methodologies preferred
Exceptional leadership capabilities combined with strategic thinking and advanced project management expertise
Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills
