What the role is

As an Assistant Engineer with the Catchment & Waterways / Reservoir Management / Tidal Gate Operations team, your roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

What you will be working on

Core Operations • Monitor reservoir water levels and carry out tidal gate operations in accordance with Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) • Operate stop logs and associated equipment as required during normal and emergency conditions • Monitor water quality, collect water samples in accordance with SOPs • Respond to emergency situations, including flood events and equipment failures, and execute emergency response plans • Support reservoir and tidal gate operations during events and contingencies Maintenance, Inspection & Contractor Management • Inspect and supervise contractors’ works, including spillway maintenance and tidal gate facility upkeep • Monitor and support ongoing works (e.g. sheet pile replacement/repair works) • Ensure assets are maintained in a safe, functional, and operationally ready condition Digitalisation & Remote Operations (Transformation Scope) • Support the implementation and operations of the Catchment & Waterways Operating System (CWOS) and other digital platforms for monitoring and control • Assist in the transition towards remote and autonomous tidal gate operations, including remote monitoring, verification, and control workflows • Participate in testing, commissioning, and operationalisation of new systems, including SCADA enhancements and remote-control features • Explore and support the deployment of smart technologies (e.g. IIoT sensors, CCTV, video analytics) KTG Redevelopment & Future Systems • Support redevelopment and upgrading works at KTG, including coordination with project teams and contractors • Provide operations and maintenance (O&M) inputs during design, construction, and commissioning stages to ensure operational readiness • Assist in system integration, testing, and handover of upgraded or new infrastructure • Support development of new SOPs, workflows, and contingency plans for upgraded systems Administrative & General Duties • Carry out administrative duties including generation of Purchase Order, Work Orders, Completion Certificates, Reports, and quotations • Maintain proper documentation of operations, incidents, and maintenance activities • Drive PUB vehicle as required for operational duties

What we are looking for

• Diploma in Civil / Environmental / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or relevant experience in reservoir/tidal gate operations • Able to work independently in a shift environment and respond effectively to dynamic and emergency situations • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and proactive attitude • Able to communicate in English, both written and oral • Physically fit for field work • Competent in basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) and open to learning new digital systems and technologies • Possess Class 3 Driving Licence • Willing to work rotating shifts of two days each at 0700, 1500 & 2300 hours, followed by two to three days of rest Work Location Note: Kranji Tidal Gate
