What the role is

This role ensures organisational resilience through emergency preparedness, business continuity planning, and sustainability framework implementation. The position requires demonstrated capability in crisis management planning and implementation, and commitment to sustainability advocacy. The officer must possess strong organisational skills, including drafting submissions and presenting to senior management, collaborative working style, and ability to balance competing priorities whilst maintaining accuracy in deliverables.

What you will be working on

Emergency Preparedness Management

  • Develop and maintain emergency response protocols and plans and business continuity frameworks
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across all levels to identify critical business functions and develop contingency plans for various emergency scenarios
  • Conduct regular emergency drills, tabletop exercises and training sessions for staff
  • Maintain and update crisis management protocols and communication procedures
  • Liaise with relevant agencies and external partners on emergency planning matters
  • Ensure operational readiness of emergency response teams and equipment
  • Monitor business continuity metrics and report programme effectiveness to senior management
  • Maintain oversight of subsidiary organisations' emergency preparedness plans and ensure alignment with NAC's protocols in preparation for ministry validation exercises

Sustainability Initiatives

  • Develop and implement NAC’s sustainability strategy and related initiatives
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across all levels to prepare content for annual sustainability reporting  
  • Monitor and report on key sustainability performance indicators
  • Present sustainability performance data to senior management with recommendations to achieve organisational targets
  • Plan and execute sustainability awareness campaigns and staff engagement activities to promote environmentally conscious practices
  • Implement green office practices and waste reduction programmes
  • Ensure compliance with sustainability-related regulatory requirements

Administrative functions

  • Oversee gift declaration policy   
  • Prepare appreciation gifts for Council members
  • Corp Pass administration
  • Contract management for NAC’s public liability insurance
  • E-registry administration

Working in a team, the officer will also provide support for facilities management, office administration, knowledge management and staff wellbeing initiative, as required

What we are looking for

  • Prior experience in crisis management, policy development or planning functions preferred
  • Attention to detail and analytical mindset with experience in systematic and data-driven approach to programme evaluation
  • Proactive and forward-thinking approach to identifying and mitigating potential challenges with commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Proven project management experience with track record in leading organisation-wide initiatives
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills with capability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
