What the role is

As part of our Communications and Engagement team, you'll play a pivotal role in elevating Home Team Academy's (HTA) brand presence and strategic communications. This position offers the opportunity to shape how HTA engages with stakeholders across traditional and digital platforms, positioning our organisation as a training and learning institution. You'll drive comprehensive communications strategies that build meaningful connections with both internal teams and external audiences.

What you will be working on

As our communications specialist, you'll lead strategic initiatives that enhance HTA's visibility and engagement. Here's how you'll contribute to our mission: a) Develop Comprehensive Communications Strategy Create and implement the HTA Communications Masterplan, conducting regular reviews to ensure alignment with organisational goals. You'll work closely with stakeholders and creative agencies to develop integrated strategies that effectively communicate HTA's key messages across multiple channels, measuring impact and adjusting strategies based on audience feedback and engagement metrics. b) Drive Social Media Strategy and Digital Engagement Develop and execute social media strategies, across platforms including LinkedIn and Instagram. You'll create content calendars that balance educational content, behind-the-scenes insights, strengthen awareness of HTA’s work and people. c) Manage Content Production and Editorial Oversight Oversee the creation of high-quality content including the annual HTA Annual Report, coordinating with various departments to gather information, working with designers and editors, and ensuring consistent brand messaging. You'll manage the production timeline for the Home Team Journal, from content planning and contributor coordination to final publication and distribution strategies. d) Execute Strategic Media Relations and Events Plan and coordinate media events for HTA's key initiatives, developing publicity strategies that include media kit preparation, media briefings, and follow-up engagement. You'll craft detailed talking points and briefing materials for senior management interviews and build relationships with key media contacts in the training and education sectors. e) Support Internal Communications and Culture Building Partner team members on internal communications strategies that keep HTA staff informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational objectives. You'll create internal comms content, manage internal digital platforms, and support change management communications. This includes crafting messages for leadership communications, coordinating cross-departmental information sharing, and developing communications that reinforce HTA's values and culture amongst staff. f) Support Special Projects and Innovation Initiatives Take on additional assignments that may include crisis communications support, internal communications campaigns, stakeholder engagements or special events. These projects offer opportunities to explore new communications approaches and contribute to organisational development.

What we are looking for

a) Strong Educational Foundation A good university degree, preferably in Mass Communications, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Organisational Development, or related disciplines. Relevant experience in corporate communications, social media management, or public sector communications will be advantageous. b) Digital Communications Expertise Strong understanding of multimedia communications trends, social media platforms and content management. c) Excellent Interpersonal Skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, strong listening skills, and the ability to translate complex information into accessible communications. Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration is valued. d) Competent Communication Abilities Exceptional writing skills with experience in corporate communications, and social media content creation. Strong presentation skills and represent the organisation at external events. e) Project Management Capabilities Strong ability to manage concurrent projects, meet tight deadlines, and coordinate with stakeholders.
