What the role is

You will be part of a dynamic team that catalyses the transformation of the maritime industry, through the development of a vibrant innovation ecosystem with strong technological capabilities, building new or growing enterprise capabilities that is supported by an agile and competent workforce equipped with a global mind-set. The Maritime Enterprise Transformation (MET) team focuses on advancing the holistic growth of maritime enterprises with a focus on the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), through equipping them with new capabilities, uplifting and driving their transformation through digital and manpower development levers.  MED adopts a joint-agency, multi-channel approach, to facilitate and support maritime enterprises in achieving their transformation and next bound of growth.  You will work closely with key stakeholders such as government agencies, industry associations and unions, to devise, customise and administer initiatives for maritime enterprises.

What you will be working on

The role of the Assistant Director of the Maritime Enterprise Transformation department includes (but is not limited to):

  • Lead department in driving enterprise development and capability building of maritime enterprises with a focus on maritime SMEs.
  • Develop sectoral strategies and translating them into concrete implementable solutions of high relevance to the maritime industry.
  • Develop collaboration framework that guides cross-agency efforts in assisting SMEs, including formulate and/or revise strategies, design outreach initiatives, programmes and tools, with clear KPIs/targets, to achieve the desired industry outcomes.
  • Drive awareness and promote available resources to push for adoption of digital and sustainability solutions, skills upgrading, and workplace transformation including the use of automation technologies
  • Active industry engagement to expand the networks of and deepen the relations with influential stakeholders as partners and multipliers of our industry engagement efforts.
  • Build up in-house capabilities and resources to undertake tasks in SME enterprise development.


     

    What we are looking for

    Requirements

    • At least 8 years of relevant work experience and prior experience in leading a team.
    • Strong background in maritime industry, and proven track record in leading change management, business strategy, digital transformation, workplace innovation; prior experience in small medium size establishment would be a bonus.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically to translate conceptual strategies into effective, implementable solutions.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to work with public agencies and industry partners.
    • Detailed-oriented and ability to excel in a versatile, fast-paced environment.
