What the role is
What you will be working on
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will undertake responsibilities in the following areas:
Academic Professional Development (APD)
• Contributes to/leads the design, development, and management of internal APD programmes and courses for academic staff, grounded in learner centred pedagogical/andragogical principles and evidence based teaching and learning (T&L) practices.
• Contributes to/oversees training quality, e.g., alignment of learning outcomes, suitability of assessments, and collection and analysis of pre and post training participant feedback etc.
• Works closely with CED colleagues, Schools/Centre, and academic leaders to identify professional learning needs and translate them into relevant APD offerings.
• Uses data and feedback to drive continuous improvement in APD design and delivery.
• Prepares reports and insights on APD outcomes for CED and RP leadership, where required.
External Stakeholder Engagement
• Contributes to/serves as a key liaison for external (local and international) organisations that engage CED/RP for learning journeys, benchmarking visits, and professional exchanges.
• Designs and curates learning journey programmes, including content framing, learning objectives, facilitation plans, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
• Represents CED/RP professionally in external engagements, reinforcing RP’s strengths in T&L.
Research
• Contributes to/leads the design and conduct of educational research to support CED’s/RP’s goals and outcomes, e.g., Pre Employment Training (PET), Continuing Education and Training (CET), APD quality, T&L awards, as well as T&L innovation and excellence.
• Analyses and interprets educational data to generate insights that inform improvement efforts and communicates findings to management.
What we are looking for
The candidate should have:
• At least 3–5 years of experience working with adult learners, e.g., in professional development, teaching and learning (curriculum design, delivery, and assessment), or educational leadership.
• Experience in designing and/or managing professional development programmes and supporting educational change management, preferably in Higher Education or adult learning contexts.
• Ability to design, implement, and interpret Key Performance Indicators, as well as evaluate frameworks to assess learning effectiveness.
• Ability to leverage contemporary teaching and learning practices, including blended and technology/AI enabled learning.
• Experience in data analytics (including learning analytics), statistics, and educational research will be an added advantage.
• Experience in educational change management within Higher Education will be an added advantage.
• Having the Institute for Adult Learning’s Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) or the former Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) will be an advantage.
The candidate should be:
• Competent in teaching and learning and/or professional training, with the ability to facilitate effective learning experiences for adult learners.
• An excellent communicator, with strong written and spoken communication skills and a high level of proficiency in English.
• An effective collaborator, with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior academics and external partners.
• Data savvy, with the ability to work with data to derive insights, inform decision making, and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong in project management, with attention to detail and the ability to manage deliverables effectively.
• A strong multi tasker, able to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritise effectively.
• Adaptable, flexible, and self motivated, with the ability to perform well in a fast paced environment where change is constant.
