LECTURER, LANDSCAPE DESIGN & HORTICULTURE - LSCT
What the role is
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering Pre-Employment Training (PET) programmes and Continuing Education and Training (CET) in the areas of urban horticulture and agriculture facilities and technologies, including hydroponics, aquaponics, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications; as well as plant sciences, including plant nutrition, anatomy, physiology, and breeding.
What you will be working on
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:
Design, develop and deliver in-person/online lectures, tutorials, practicals, assessments and marking for full-time and part-time courses in the areas of urban horticulture and/or agriculture facilities and technologies, including hydroponics, aquaponics, Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications, and AI applications in horticulture/agriculture; and plant sciences, including plant nutrition, anatomy, physiology, and breeding.
Be available to teach at least 1 evening per week and/or on weekends for CET classes
Supervise and facilitate student-industry collaboration projects
Collaborate with industry on training, applied research and/or consultancy projects to stay relevant in your profession.
Contribute to student-related events (such as leading student overseas trips) and outreach activities.
Mentor students in character development and career readiness
Provide pastoral care for students
Carry out administrative duties to support academic and school operations
What we are looking for
Candidate should have relevant qualification(s) in the fields of horticulture/agriculture/plant science
Relevant teaching experiences or at least 3 years of relevant industry experience in the area of plant science, horticulture and urban agriculture technology.
Competent to plan, develop, teach, and support Diploma and/or post-Diploma modules related to plant sciences, horticulture and urban agriculture, including but not limited to the following:
Plant Anatomy and Morphology
Soil Science and Plant Nutrition
Plant Physiology and Breeding
Plant Pathology and Entomology
Urban Ecology and Conservation
Urban Horticulture Technology
Urban Agri-technology
Passionate about education and possess a strong interest in nurturing, teaching, mentoring and interacting with youth and adult learners
A team player with strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
Self-driven, independent and able to multi-task effectively.
Additional Qualifications and Experiences That Are Advantageous
Qualifications and/or experiences relevant to digitalisation, Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Qualifications and/or experiences in Therapeutic Horticulture
Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education, Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP), and/or Diploma in Adult Continuing Education (DACE)
