What the role is

You provide overall leadership for the Professional Military Education (PME) of mid-level officers, preparing them for higher command and staff appointments in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Army. You assume the role of Course Director for the programming and execution of Command and Staff Courses (CSC) and contribute to the college's evolution through academic partnerships and domain research.

What you will be working on

- Lead the design and scheduling of course curriculum according to PME standards, military doctrine and national policies, and prevailing security and geopolitical landscape - Direct PME to develop students' leadership, conceptual, mission, innovation and Joint & Service operations competencies - Facilitate strategic discussions, war games, and operational planning exercises to enhance participants' understanding and appreciation of campaign design, operational art, and decision-making - Establish and maintain student assessment and feedback mechanisms, and endorse reports on course progress and cohort performance - Exercise supervisory roles over module Principal Directing Staff, ensuring timely coordination and quality teaching services - Lead professional exchanges and initiatives with foreign military colleges and local institutions to strengthen partnerships and sharing of best practices - Contribute to development initiatives, such as enrichment programmes, curriculum reviews, academic innovation, reading and writing habits - Guide Directing Staffs in their professional development to sharpen instructional methods and content delivery Challenge(s) - Remaining apprised and continuously updating yourself amidst the fast-moving changes in the strategic environment, impacted by hybrid threats, grey zone conflicts, technological disruption and geopolitical dynamics, and translating these developments into meaningful learning outcomes - Managing continuous engagement and collaboration with the relevant SAF/Army stakeholders in operational/training commands, doctrine and policy departments and operational planners

What we are looking for

- Education in Defence Studies, Strategic Studies, International Relations, Military History, Public Policy or a related field, and graduated from a credible command and staff course - At least 20 years of professional relevant experience, with previous experience in the Army being advantageous - Strong competency in leading and performing campaign planning, joint operations and emerging domains such as cyber and information warfare - Experience in developing and delivering courses, adult learning methodologies, instructional design and outcome-based education - Skills in coaching and mentoring of Directing Staff and mid-level officers - Ability to engage key stakeholders, including mid-level officers - Strong written and verbal communication skills Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
