Legal Counsel (Prosecution)

What the role is

The Legal / Prosecuting Counsel will support the Health Sciences Authority in its regulatory and enforcement functions. This role involves assessing investigation matters, conducting prosecutions, and providing legal advice on regulatory and public law issues across HSA's Professional Groups.

What you will be working on

  • Review and assess investigation papers to determine evidential sufficiency and make prosecutorial recommendations.
  • Conduct prosecutions on behalf of the Health Sciences Authority whilst providing legal advice on regulatory, enforcement, and public law matters to HSA's four Professional Groups.
  • The role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders across departments to develop and refine regulatory policies, as well as supporting litigation and trial work, including assisting with hearings and court proceedings where required

What we are looking for

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of three years' post-qualification experience (PQE) in prosecutorial and/or legal advisory work.
  • Experience in criminal or regulatory prosecutions is strongly preferred, whilst trial or court experience represents an advantage, with the ability to assist in trials upon joining.
  • Essential skills include strong analytical, drafting, and advocacy capabilities, along with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a regulatory environment.
