What the role is

The Audit Unit (AU) in Ministry of Digital Development & Information (MDDI) is responsible for providing independent and objective assurance and consulting services to management. The AU helps MDDI accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes. The AU's main responsibilities include planning and conducting internal audits, providing advisory services and performing investigations. Internal audits are conducted to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with policies and procedures, and the reliability and integrity of financial and operational information.

What you will be working on

You will assist Director, AU by working with the MDDI’s Senior Leadership Team, Management and Audit Committee (AC) to improve governance, risk management and streamline processes for greater operational effectiveness and efficiency. Responsibilities: • Develop and present the annual internal audit work plan for AC’s endorsement, ensuring alignment with MDDI’s organisational priorities, emerging risks and regulatory requirements. • Plan, execute and reporting of audits covering financial, operational, compliance and IT risks and assist to oversee in-house audits to identify control gaps and recommend improvement to business processes. • Present findings and recommendations to the AC, and provide objective insights to strengthen governance, risks management and internal controls • Offer strategic advisory services to internal stakeholders to enhance governance, risk management and streamline processes for greater operational effectiveness and efficiency. • Manage the whistleblowing and support special reviews or investigations as requested by senior management or the Audit Committee • Supervise outsourced audits conducted by AU’s service provider, monitor their performance and ensure quality outcomes • Supervise staff’s follow up to verify implementation of past audit recommendations. • Assist to organise and provide secretariat support for AC meetings. • Drive the audit team’s digital transformation using automation, digital tools and data analytics • Execute advisory, educational and ad-hoc projects aimed at enhancing organisational effectiveness

What we are looking for

Functional Competencies • Background in Accountancy, Finance or Business Administration or related fields, with minimum 12 years of relevant working experience in audit, including 5 years in supervisory role • Relevant certification such as CA or CIA (including other certifications by The Institute of Internal Auditors) are preferred • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to analyse complex situations, identify key issues and formulate effective solutions. • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, with strong negotiation skills to influence and promote positive change • Good working knowledge and understanding of IT controls, processes, digital tools, continuous auditing and data analytics is a plus.
