What the role is

Project: Machine Learning for Trade Recommender Join Our Team for an Exciting Internship in Applied Machine Learning! As an intern in the Business Statistics Division, you will play a key role in developing an innovative trade recommender system that transforms how businesses discover global export opportunities. This is an unique opportunity to experience applying machine learning techniques to real-world data. Think Netflix recommendations, but for export markets!

What you will be working on

Machine Learning Development: Design and implement collaborative filtering algorithms that identify patterns between similar businesses and their export destinations, creating intelligent market recommendations for businesses seeking new markets. Data Preprocessing & Feature Engineering: Transform raw business data into meaningful features that capture firm characteristics and trade relationships to train our recommendation model. AI Model Training & Validation: Participate in training machine learning models on real-world trade data, testing different algorithms, and validating recommendations against actual export success stories. Interactive Visualisation & Insights: Create compelling data visualisations and dashboards that translate the recommendations into actionable business intelligence for potential exporters. By joining us, you will gain invaluable experience in applying machine learning techniques to real-world data, that directly impact Singapore's businesses.

What we are looking for

Knowledge or experience in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accountancy, Actuarial Science or subjects with substantial quantitative content Required Skills: - Basic Programming Knowledge (Python) Preferred Skills: - Machine learning skills - Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau PowerBI or Matplotlib Required Duration: Jul/Aug 2026 to Dec 2026/Jan 2027 [Min. 24 weeks] Part Time Option Available; Min. 3 days a week
