What the role is

You are responsible for planning and directing transport operations to meet service requirements and organisational goals, in compliance with existing transport policies. You will coordinate transport resources to support multiple units, while managing fleet availability, personnel development, and financial resources.

What you will be working on

- Coordinate with various units to fulfil their transport requirements, including allocating and prioritising transport resources to meet training and operational demands - Implement proper fleet management across a range of functions including vehicle maintenance, driver management, asset accountability, vehicle tracking, and platform replacement - Monitor and update resource availability and readiness reports to headquarters, including presenting key performance indicators and forecasts at monthly conferences - Manage fleet availability through engagement with relevant maintenance and support agencies as well as external contracted vendors and service providers - Develop and coach junior officers and transport supervisors, including monitoring training courses and managing performance - Design and implement training programmes for personnel within the team, covering physical fitness, vocational and driving skills - Respond to, investigate and manage all vehicular incidents and road traffic accidents, and implement preventive measures - Monitor and control financial resources allocated to the team to ensure optimal utilisation - Promote correct transport practices, safety and security awareness among supported units and personnel Challenge(s) - Balancing competing and dynamic transport demands across multiple units in a high-tempo, resource-constrained environment while maintaining fulfilment rates and personnel morale - Staying current with the evolving training programmes and schedules of multiple units in order to anticipate their transport needs and enable more accurate and effective resource planning

What we are looking for

- Education in Supply Chain Management, Business Management or Operations related field - At least 6 years of experience in transportation operations and management - Knowledge and experience in fleet management, enterprise HR and logistics systems, training functions, and financial procedures - Prior leadership experience in previous appointments or employment - Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to work effectively with multiple stakeholders - Coaching and facilitation skills to develop junior officers and supervisors - Meticulous with strong organisational skills Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
