The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCS) administers and enforces Singapore’s competition, consumer protection and legal metrology laws. Amongst various things, CCS conducts investigations and takes enforcement action in appropriate cases, whilst providing effective advice to the Government and public authorities on national needs and policies in competition, consumer protection and legal metrology matters.

What you will be working on
You will assist in the Commission's administration and enforcement of the Competition Act against cartels, dominant companies that abuse their position and mergers which substantially lessen competition. You will also be involved in the administration and enforcement of the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, the Consumer Protection (Trade Descriptions and Safety Requirements) Act, and the Weights and Measures Act. In this regard, you will play an important role in protecting consumer interests and ensuring fair trading practices, consumer product safety, and a reliable system of weights and measures in Singapore.
Your work will include conducting investigations and interviews, participating in dawn raids, gathering field intelligence, assessing notifications (including mergers), working on policy and law reform matters relating to competition law and consumer protection law, and representing the Commission in the Courts and Tribunals, as required. You will also be part of the Commission's team of lawyers, working on policy matters and initiatives, providing legal advice on wide-ranging issues, and assisting to vet and draft contracts.
Appointment and remuneration will be based on relevant experience and post-qualification experience (“PQE").
What we are looking for
• A recognized law degree, with at least 2-3 years PQE
• Called to the Singapore Bar (preferred)
• Applicants with no experience but have keen interest in Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law are welcome to apply
• A background in Enforcement, Investigation, Prosecution, Litigation, or Economics will be an advantage
• Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Fresh graduates may apply
