What the role is

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Director to join our Human Resources team. The successful candidate will oversee critical HR functions including performance management, total compensation and rewards. This position requires a strategic leader with deep understanding of public service operations and proven ability to manage complex HR initiatives.

What you will be working on

Key Responsibilities

You will lead and manage the performance management framework across the organisation, including performance appraisal cycles, ranking and promotion exercises,  ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and public service standards. This includes overseeing the development and implementation of performance evaluation systems, managing performance improvement processes, and ensuring consistent application of performance standards throughout the organisation.

In the area of total compensation and rewards, your role involves developing, maintaining and implementing competitive compensation structures that align with public service guidelines whilst attracting and retaining top talent. You will also maintain comprehensive oversight of staff benefits administration, including medical benefits, leave policies, and other employee welfare programmes.

Awards and recognition programmes also fall under this role's purview, requiring the development and management of systems that acknowledge outstanding performance. This includes establishing criteria for various awards, managing nomination processes, and coordinating recognition ceremonies and communications.

What we are looking for

Candidates should have supervisory experience and be familiar with public service policies and processes.  The candidate should also have strong analytical skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management experience along with the ability to translate policy into practical implementation.

About Singapore Food Agency

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health. The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
