What the role is

Climate change is a global existential threat, and Singapore is doing its part to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions for a more sustainable future. The power sector contributes about 40% of Singapore's greenhouse gas emissions. We need to significantly reduce the power sector's emissions, while ensuring that the power system remains secure, reliable, and sustainable. The Energy Connections Office (ECO) is tasked to facilitate around 6GW of low-carbon electricity imports into Singapore by 2035, or about one-third of our energy demand then.

You will join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team tasked to facilitate imports into Singapore. Specifically, you will join the Infrastructure, Strategy and Governance (ISG) branch in ECO.

What you will be working on

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing policies to ensure that Singapore's power supply remains reliable and secure with the entry of large-scale low-carbon electricity imports

  • Establishing and implementing robust governance frameworks for key stakeholders and asset owners, to ensure clear accountabilities and proper oversight

  • Managing complex cross-agency policy and operational trade-offs for Singapore to successfully bring in large-scale electricity imports

What we are looking for

Requirements:

·       Keen interest in energy transition issues and passion for the public service.

·       Excited about learning new things, challenging the status quo, and willing to speak up and put forward new solutions.

·       Comfortable working with numbers and possess good acumen for policy work, with the ability to translate data insights into sound policy recommendations

·       Strong analytical and systems thinking skills to navigate complex energy policy challenges

·       Strong interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate with stakeholders

·       Prior experience in electricity trading, industry engagement, and project management will be an advantage
