Senior Manager / Manager, Specialised Matters, Appeals and Reconsideration (SAR)

Fixed Terms
Closing on 30 Dec 2026

What the role is

Victims of online harm often have no effective way to stop the harm, especially where perpetrators act anonymously online. The Online Safety Project Office has been newly set up to establish a regime that better protects victims by providing timely, effective and accessible means of relief.

SAR is the team within the Office responsible for reconsideration, appeals and other specialised casework. It supports victims in matters such as helping identify perpetrators of online harm, and helps ensure that Office’s decisions are robust, properly reviewed, and able to withstand scrutiny.

What you will be working on

  • Handling applications by victims for end-user identity information (EUI) of perpetrators of online harm
  • Handling applications for reconsideration of decisions
  • Assisting in matters relating to appeals against decisions
  • Establishing relevant standard operating procedures
  • Developing, maintaining, and managing a registry for EUI, reconsideration, and appeals
  • Working with different stakeholders to strengthen online safety
  • Managing knowledge management of the Office’s work

What we are looking for

  • Background in Law, Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs, or related field with strong understanding of legal frameworks
  • Able to operate at the frontier of a new regime, develop frameworks for untested situations and have the confidence to make principled decisions on matters without precedent.
  • Experience in case management, appeals administration, or regulatory compliance within digital safety or telecommunications sectors
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex legal matters and provide sound policy recommendations
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience working across internal and external parties on sensitive regulatory matters
  • Knowledge of online safety regulations, digital harm prevention, and the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Act would be highly advantageous
